A few months ago the European Council has introduced new rules called the Instant Payment Regulation (EU 2024/886). If you run a bank or financial company that deals with payments in euros, this regulation could significantly impact your business.
The new rules require banks and payment providers who currently handle regular credit transfers in euros to also offer instant payments. Instant payments have to be available to the receiver right away.
